Native of Oakville, soprano Catherine Arcand-Pinette is an active performer and recitalist. She has been featured as a soloist in works including the B Minor Mass by J.S. Bach, Handel’s Messiah and Vaughan Williams’ Magnificat and has studied various operatic roles including Cherubino in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and Carmen in Bizet’s Carmen. Catherine has also been featured in many musical theatre productions including Crazy for You, Pirates of Penzance and Nunsense as well as performing throughout Southern Ontario as a member of the jazz trio Trio Bella with the Swing Shift Big Band. Ms. Arcand-Pinette recently completed a MMus from the University of Western Ontario where she was very active in the Early Music Studio studying Baroque and Classical chamber music. She has also taken part in the Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute under the directorship of Ivars Taurins. Her paper “Getting a Handel on Baroque Pitch” was chosen to be presented as a part of the 2006 CUMS Conference at York University. Catherine has been teaching Voice and Musical Theatre at the Merriam School of Music for 11 years and is currently the soprano soloist with the Oakville Ensemble.
